Split windows are common on bombers and cargo aircraft. The SR-71 had a frame right in front of the pilot, not a lot of aerial gunnery could be done on a recon aircraft.

@Dinops907 I'm not talking about flights but public reveal events. The B21 already flew too. But it wasn't public.

The F-117 isn't flying combat, it's to assist in training and R&D.

Seems very significant. B-1s were used against Syria. The defenses were near peer level (Russian S-400s) but the targets weren't. Near peer sells to lesser countries.

One bomber with less payload does more damage on target than 30 bombers that get shot down in the way in.

@sidpierce1 The B1 or B2 have not been operational in future theaters of combat. Fighting the last war fallacy.

@sidpierce1 Uh... the B-21 is made for future conflicts. That's why it's relevant. It's like the F-35. It carries less missiles internally. However, you need less missiles to do the job if your aircraft is all around better at hiding and at seeing others.

@classicgalactica5879 I'm sure the US Navy still has theoretical knowledge of stealth "just in case" as they could face J-20s. Or Su-57s, if we wanted to have a laugh.

They have nerds too, you know?
1
There was a Nighthawk official reveal event too.

@Dinops907 First public display was April 21, 1990 at the Nellis AFB.

The F-117 was angular and planar because computers then did not have the CPU power to caculate the radar equations on complex curved shapes. The F-117 isn't better, it was limited by technology at the time.
