  1.  @WalrusWinking  "They already tried replacing the A-10 with the F-16 it didn't work out so well" - Except it did. In terms of percentages the F-16 does three times the CAS the A-10 does. What didn't work was adapting a 30mm gunpod to the F-16, which was a ridiculous idea anyway considering that the 30mm round hasn't been able to penetrate main battle tanks in decades, the DU round has been retired, and 20mm shreds up armored vehicles pretty good.

  2. It wasn't sabotaged. It was meant to be a fighter for export due to restrictions on F-16 foreign sales, and when those restrictions were removed everyone wanted a piece of that pie.

  3. Except that quality has curbstomped cost savings. Quality means the ability to drop bombs on factories and power plants. There's no mass production in a country that got struck by quality.

  6. The Concorde supercruised for most of the trip. It used afterburners for the takeoff and pushing through the transonic region.
