  1. That's really the heart of the issue. As population exploded, and population density went off the scale with cities, we simply cannot maintain a personal relationship with everyone around us, so most people are strangers. It's not "money allows for slavery and imperialism" it's "rival tribes would F your tribe up to get even, now you have total strangers you can harm with no consequences by simply riding on a boat".

  2. ​ @barryrobbins7694  the "community" is far too large for the relationship to remain unchanged. I am dating myself for using this example, but nobody that reached Facebook's 5000 friends limit actually had conversations with all of them. Money didn't change the relationships between people in the community. Communities simply grew too large for us to reliably keep track of everyone else. Even without money.
