The problem with shooters who obtained their guns legally was that usually they were known to be unstable - but rarely reported as such on the NICS check. In my country, not a lot of people have guns in the house in cities. Husbands and wives kill each other with knives or brutal beat-downs. Crimes of passion are not stopped with gun control. More women with guns - less violent husbands.

Have you consider how many have escaped the law because they knew they wouldn't be shot? I'm sorry, but if I were a criminal I'd live in the UK and just keep fit enough to run.
