The Gripen was built under the assumption that Sweden would be by default overrun in terms of air power, so they'd wage guerrilla in the air. The American philosophy of fighter design is to simply overwhelm the enemy air force by shooting it down.

  10. ​ @marrs1013 No need for a shotgun, a smooth pipe is a barrel. No need for "ammo", just pre loaded cartridges. No recoil, just do like the shoulder fired weapons and use countermass. Targeting device? A Raspberry Pi with a dangle the size of a portable phone charger can do AI vision at 60 fps. Go up in the air, chase enemy drone, shoot, land back down for reload.

  13.  @tellyboy17  If the S-400s can detect the F-35s, why won't they feed the intel to Syrians? Russians may not fire, but Syrians would. And Russians did say they linked the S-400 to Syrian defenses.
