B-52s, B-1Bs, F-16s, F-15E Strike Eagles, etc already do its job. "It's held back by the fact that it's trying to be more than one thing than what it can be specialized at" - Nobody says the F-16 is held back. Or the Eurofighter, Dassault Rafale, etc. Everyone uses and wants multiroles. Somehow the F-35 is the only that has a problem.
