@Blakkrazor69 The speed of sound is based on an object travelling through a medium (there's no speed of sound in a vacuum). Since the atmosphere is travelling with the Earth, it doesn't break the speed of sound. Same reason why you can't go on a plane at 0.99 Mach, stand up, sprint from tail to nose and claim you broke Mach 1 by running. That's cartesian frame of reference, 7th grade physics.

@myspeechles spheres don't pull things - things being pulled together is what makes the sphere. On a three dimensional space if you say "give me all points exactly 5 meters away from the point x,y,z" you get a sphere with 5 meter radius centered on point x,y,z. When a proto planet starts accretion of rock in space it grows into a sphere because the rocks "fall into place" as a sphere maintains equal distance from the center to the outer surface. A flat planet would have very weak gravity on the edges so it wouldn't grow by attracting rock.

 @M4niacks2 Yes but the point isn't superior human intelligence. It's that a human will walk up to the trash can and not be able to figure out how to use it.
