  2. ​ @qlasalle  But gaming used to be niche so they needed to sell games at 120 inflation-adjusted dollars. Now games sell like hot cakes.

  3. ​ @Quazzi  We have higher quality textures but we also have better tools and we're at the point we can scan real objects and get a texture with some adjustments. Also texture packs exist.

  4. ​ @trax72  the game prices being mostly fixed is offset by gaming becoming more popular and selling more. Selling 500k at 120 dollars and selling 1M at 60 dollars is the same.

  5. ​@Volfur2251 Engines costing more is kind of offset by Unreal 5 becoming the standard. Fewer studios are making in-house engines.
