  1. Natural selection is the first point, not the second. Collective immunity would be the point at which those who are immune serve as a barrier to transmission because they can't get infected and transmit to the non-immune. That's not natural selection but a function of statistics where many people who'd be weak at fighting the virus are spared because of living among an immune population.
