  2.  @ForOne814  Doctrine of what? You claimed red dot sights do not work past 100 yards, but the US issued them despite the rifle having an effective range of 400 meters. How is it "doctrine" that makes sights that do not work, work?

  4. C-clamping is such a weird priority. It's going to be air support doing the killing, the rifle is just to pin them down.

  5. The angle has to do with the angle of the gas port itself. With the higher velocity of the 5.45 cartridge, the hole drilled at an angle caused the shape of the gas port inside the barrel to act like a cheese grater and shear a piece of the bullet. So they changed to 90º holes and gas blocks. If I'm not mistaken, Romania made AKs with 45º gas blocks, but the hole itself is 90º.

  6. Some people like to use the stubby grip as a consistent reference point, but also possibly take the hand off the grip and use it as a barricade stop. There's also the method of stopping a sling from flopping around by looping the sling around the front grip to make it shorter (like this /watch?v=m7dWm1nzioo).
