@warweasel2832 You don't have to be a speed holsterer to be skilled. But you should be smooth. If you haven't holstered a handgun enough times in training for it to be smooth under duress, you don't belong in security detail. Holstering and unholstering are frequent sources of NDs. Tagging your principal trying to holster a gun is automatic -1000 aura.

The 2000 meter/yard iron sights were for volley fire. Men would stand side by side and use those sights which angled the muzzle up, then when they started firing it acted almost like a machine gun due to the multiple shooters.

You cannot hear a shot that's travelling 3 times faster than the speed of sound. Even a fighter jet will fly past you without making a sound and then the shock cone hits you. If you can't hear an incoming jet screaming at 150 dB what makes you think you can hear a rifle from 400 yards away before the bullet reaches you?
