Even if they assume ignorance because someone else handed it to him presuming it was safe, he's still at fault because he's a producer and he allowed the conditions to deteriorate. The use of weapons on set should not have continued after the original crew walked off.

@combatwombatstl5598 According to people on this thread, "prop" is short for "theatrical property". So while we say "prop" to mean dummy or inert replica, prop can include real firearms.

@astonishproductions4162 Merriam Webster says "an article or object used in a play or motion picture except painted scenery and costumes". If a real gun is used in a play or motion picture, it's a prop.

I was on the set of Rust, walking through blood and bone...

@whitestratman3158 Get off the man's case. There's armories full of real guns for use in Hollywood. Oh, you have a video? Ian McCollum from Forgotten Weapons has probably a hundred videos of him going to movie armories to get access to stuff you don't find often in the civilian market.

@marcogenovesi8570 Semi-auto pistols need the same exact significant mod - a barrel change. It's double-action revolvers that don't need changes.

@whitestratman3158 That's one video of one individual showing one pistol (I skipped around, didn't watch the full 11 minutes). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GnOUrRTf6jg Here's a video with WALLS FULL OF REAL GUNS that all belong to a single movie armory company. EDIT: Holy crap man you posted that same link that disproves your previous claim that movie guns only fire 8mm blanks!

Did you bring up James Woods because he's a conservative twitter guy who's kinda "cancelled" from the acting world? It wouldn't be as funny because he's not a raging anti-gunner, but it would still be amusing that a guy who claims to have a 187 IQ or whatever can't check if a gun is live before playing around on set.

@JnEricsonx First, Alec Baldwin was never a stranger to vitriol. You reap what you sow. Second, if you're also not mistaken you're not supposed to fire blanks at actors either. Actors usually don't wear eye protection and thus they're supposed to aim away from other actors and camera perspective fixes it. Third, if you're also not mistaken you don't point the gun at the cinematographer. What part of the script required Alec to shoot at the cinematographer? Fourth, my point is that James Woods claims to be a genius so him having a stupid accident would still make him look foolish - there just wouldn't be irony in the gun politics stance.

@astonishproductions4162 Yes, I saw that, but you also have a link to "Property, definition 3".

You do realize that CA has armory companies with massive collections, that have the "Hollywood exemptions" that allow them to have all the ebil weapons you're not supposed to own in CA, right? Those people handle guns as much as an employee at Battlefield Vegas.
