  1. It's a lie. It was a few thousand people who agreed on doing something about gun violence. They never agreed to criminalizing gun owners with the BS UBG's that would turn millions of guns illegal just because they have no paper trail. Even the ACLU was against the bill.

  2. Don't bring Red Herrings onto this. But you're right, though - but gun rights aren't just a Right Wing thing, as even the ACLU was against the bill. I'm not against women's rights. I don't like abortion but I understand the need for them and that people will get them even if illegal.

  3. Buying from the internet means a FFL delivery. That means background check. Guns shows have FFL dealers that perform background checks. He was lying about the statistics, and he also failed to mention the statistic that less than 1% of guns used in crime were bought in a gun show. Most are stolen, bought from another criminal or bought by a straw purchaser.

  4. Background checks already exist. The bill they wanted to pass would criminalize gun owners. I'm pro-military as someone can be, but being in the military doesn't make anyone "manly" automatically, nor does a few weeks of basic training turn a person into a responsible and highly trained gun owner. It's a right. Not a privilege.

  5. Gun stores are licensed FFL dealers, they are required by law to perform background checks. Criminals and mentally ill can't buy guns in gun stores.

Any "vendor" of firearms has to have his FFL, just like any bar has to have a license to sell booze. Any vendor has to be licensed and all licensed FFLs do BG checks on ALL customers otherwise they are engaging in a very illicit act.
