@jackspring7709 The circumstances were not normal. There were Russian officers complaining two years ago that the Syrian army was gutted and hollowed out. It was Iran, Russia and Hezbollah keeping Assad in power.

Because they lost their best fighters in those 10 years and their finances were leading to issues with pay and rations. Why would the SAA fight for Assad?

@Constantine-the-Great2000 They were Russian. Motorola was Russian. Igor Girkin is Russian. The Russian state tried to excuse the Russian troops by saying they were lost in exercises and crossed the border by accident, but years later awarded them medals for participating in the Donbas war.
