Personal to one man also means everyone else has less and less reasons to go along as the nonsense escalates. Throwing prisoners at the meat grinder doesn't affect the generals but even morally reprehensible military officers want to enjoy retirement with their grandkids.

Even without tritium the implosion plutonium cores still work, no need to go back to the gun barrel design.

@gregmattson2238 I understand that and have made that argument myself. However, this is because of dial-a-yield. The primary plutonium core is purposefully made as a low yield weapon, then tritium boosts the fission. If Russia had ran out of tritium, they could reform the plutonium core to be a pure fission weapon and give it a larger payload. Maybe 10 kt. If Russia had no tritium refills in the last 5 years and got caught with the pants down we have a chance, if they foresaw the problem a decade ago and had some cores reformed to be pure plutonium implosion, they're back in the game.

@ViciousOne For them to fall of a window, the person pushing must have a reason to push. Does the assassin want to die in a nuclear war? Putin may be willing to bring down the world with him, but every single lackey can't be.
