  2. Drones absolutely can cover the distance. A prop motor and a high fuel fraction allows you to get insane ranges. Mind that a lot of aircraft ranges basically assume the furthest point you can go and still return to the origin point with enough fuel to cover a failed landed attempt and retry. Kamikaze drones aren't planning on ever coming back.

  4. The problem is that final assembly has to trust everyone's 3d printed to be calibrated. 3d printers aren't magic, they need the user to fine tune his settings. Rough surfaces cause parasitic drag and reduce the efficiency. I made 3d printed stands for my grandmother's TV as the original ones got lost during moving, despite my measurements being accurate the dimensions were slightly oversized (had to force the mounting stud into the socket) and the surface was very rough. Good enough for a TV stand, tossed into the reject pile if aviation grade is required. It's just faster to soak fiberglass in epoxy and lay it over a foam core.
