  2.  @laszlozoltan5021  Missiles burn out the rocket engine in a matter of seconds. They leave smoke trails when launched. When flying through the air they are unpowered and either falling in a ballistic arc or gliding. A ballistic missile falling at Mach 3 will just plunge and detonate without anyone seeing what happened. No smoke. No trail. Almost invisible. Even at high speeds it takes several minutes for a missile to cover large distances, and the rocket motor would have to be Saturn V sized to burn that long.
