  1. They're actually pretty good, the movie is a comedy based on a book that was written by Col. Burton himself. It was a biased tale full of self-praise. The Battle of 73 Easting during Desert Storm had two Bradleys come across T-72s in defensive positions, and they managed to kill 5 tanks on their own before help arrived.

  4. ​ @peterc.1419 To be fair, on a PC the case is just a box. On an aircraft, replace all the insides, the airframe is still being punished by G forces, friction heating, etc.

There's a refurbishing program that can add 4,000 extra lifetime hours to a F-16 and I don't know how much is "replaced" but a similar process by Dassault used composite patching to extend airframe service life. Reinforce the old, fly it 'till the wheels come off, figuratively of course. Trying to take the guts out of an old airframe and sticking it in a new one is probably pretty rare. Some F-15s are so old, they still use magnetic data tapes. Bringing up technology in military aircraft is actually where the example shines, when military software doesn't need the bloat of civilian devices and it uses specific languages and standards, you can get away with using pitifully outdated computers.
