Hearing protection? Reducing noise pollution?

@blai5e730 Some weapons are still obnoxiously loud indoors even while wearing hearing protection. In many countries hunting is done with suppressors/moderators/mufflers to limit the nuisance. I don't see why the assumption is handguns, but even then being against suppressors is even more nonsensical. Handguns are the main type of firearm used in crime because they're concealable. A can in the end of the muzzle makes the pistol much longer, to the point it becomes difficult to pull it out from a concealable position and nearly impossible to shove into a pocket or glove box.

"You dont need an AK to take down a shooter without killing people. In fact you dont want the AK in that scenario." - Why? "You want the single shot pistol or revolver" - I don't even know of any single shot pistols that aren't veterinary guns and what would be the point of a revolver that's single shot? The whole point of a revolving cylinder is having multiple shots on tap. Why machine a revolving cylinder with only one chamber? You may study history but the books sometimes don't have the full knowledge.

@Dank_Nuggetz No, military ID doesn't bypass any federal or state laws. In fact, retired military personnel found out that they were having delays on their background checks because the government added them to watchlists after they returned from deployments overseas.

The issue is that now the course can be made too expensive or hard to complete. In Japan that's how they do it, they require commitment to participate in classes and tests during the week days, so that the average Japanese salaryman who barely takes days off due to cultural reasons isn't even going to bother attempting to enroll the classes.

@davidlillecrapp2960 It's not on par. Canada has lower guns per capita than Finland and Switzerland. The US sits at a comfortable >100 firearms per 100 people without a good estimate because millions are sold every year. Distant second place is Yemen with 80 guns per 100. However I'm sure you can find a multitude of countries with higher numbers of guns with even lower gun crime than Canada.

Nobody is "handed out" firearms. It's not a charity. Background checks are fine. The problem is that they want to use them as a stepping stone for a full registry. The federal government has no right to dictate the rules on private sales, only the state has. So it should be the state's decision on how private sales are handled.
