@cynicallydepressed1 how were the actions of Germany any different from the actions of the rest of European powers? All of the great powers are equal in blame. After centuries of Europeans butchering each other wouldn't you have done the same and strived for German unification? The "Second Reich" is an informal term and is in no way comparable to the Third. Accusing Germany of having expansionist dreams is meaningless when other countries had actual empires. Both France and Russia wanted a war. Was Germany the victim? No. Were the Allies the "good guys" and the Axis the "bad guys"? No, everyone did fucked up shit and we not only have to thank European ruling elites and royal families not just for the 4 year long dick measuring contest but also for fulfilling Bismark's prophecy of German encirclement that lead to the Nazi regime.

They were warned in 1916 by us (Wilson), but didn't care." - you do realize that the allies were using passenger ships and merchant craft to transport war materials to provoke Germans into sinking them, right? You do realize that Britain blockaded Germany and declared the whole North Sea a war zone, beginning the indiscriminate mining and declaring basic resources like food and cotton to be contraband in an attempt to starve Germany which where both violations of international treaties. "Does that mean Germany or Austria gets off the hook for their part? For some, apparently you, yes." - I'm not saying they're off the hook, I'm saying that a hundred years have passed and we could just stop using WWI as a historical backdrop for simplistic good vs evil storylines.
