@hendrikvanleeuwen9110 More like 200,000 with >50,000 Donbas militia. And there's an unknown number of rotations. Russia pulled troops from the bases in the far East, Kaliningrad, the Finnish border, Syria, sailors who were supposed to be on naval vessels and troops from the strategic rocket forces, instructors and reservists (BARS units) were sent. They also had a recruitment drive for Army contractors with huge cash bonuses, and the PMCs dropped the requirement for prior military service to join. That was before the mobilization and the prisoner recruitment by Wagner so there may be a hundred to two hundred thousand boost that was never mentioned anywhere.
"Meanwhile Russia's first draft of 300,000 remains largely in tact and waiting for deployment" - That's not true. We have the photos and documents of mobilized men who got killed within a week of mobilization starting. Russia had a critical manpower shortage and sent men straight to the front to plug gaps. They're not intact. In fact things got so bad, the Third Army Corps was almost immediately split and sent to Kherson, Kharkiv, Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia Oblasts rather than fight as a cohesive unit.
