  3. +Anders Mårtensson but the point is apples to apples comparisons. If intel can have an aftermarket cooler why not give AMD an AIO water cooler? Either take thermal throttling out of the equation by giving both parts more cooling than they need, or throttle the Intel by giving it a 20 dollar downdraft cooler.

  4. +Raging Monk the Trump administration basically spells it out for you that they are worried about China taking advantage of the "free market" the West wants while not wanting to "play ball" and using their growth to boost their military power. Just because you ignore what the administration says and focus on the MAGA rhetoric doesn't mean it's our fault you can't see the full picture.

The fact is that there's economic reasons to dislike tariffs, but the libertarian in me has to choose between what is essentially a tax, or support a very non-libertarian nation like China where their communist party is a threat to freedom.

Ronald Reagan pulled the US out of a pretty bad recession with pretty high unemployment rates. And this was ignored because of all the bad shit Bush Jr did, but his tax cuts also improved the American economy.

Look back and think about every time you heard about corporate taxes or taxing the rich as a way to get back at the 1% or funding the necessary government services, etc. All the money you took from the rich was taken from your pockets because they simply passed down their losses to you. But it's a good thing, because it funds the government! Notice how nobody is praising the tariffs as a way to increase government revenue. It's almost like there's something at play here...

Samsung is using Vietnamese and South Korean fabs along with the Chinese ones. Sony uses Japan. LG uses South Korea. Global Foundries uses USA, Germany, Emirates and Singapore. Toshiba uses Japan. "Each fab factory costs $5 billion that doesn’t just happen" - and yet there's several dozen fabs open outside of China already. "Europe and USA removed their capacity a decade ago it will not come back" - ahahah what?

  14. Because that's not how markets work. If the phone has a demand so high they can't produce enough, the market with respond with price hikes. If a manufacturer withholds supply (like Samsung with DDR4 or, allegedly, Nvidia with the 10-series) the markey has no option but increase the price. If they maintain the price, the stocks will be cleared.

  17. Intel has fabs in Oregon, Arizona, New Mexico, Massachusetts, Ireland and Israel. TSMC has most fabs in Taiwan. Global Foundries has NY, Germany, and Singapore. There's a bunch more in Japan and South Korea. "How long do you think the people in the USA will put up with not getting all the new tech and hardware and start demanding" - gamers aren't big enough to exert political force and actually many gamers are willing to give the middle finger to China as well. The professional sector will get their tech anyway.
