The way to make it fair wouldn't it make more sense to give both Intel and AMD water cooling to get the temperature throttling out of the equation?

+Gordon Goodman "If Intel included a cooler but a different one was used, then there is room for complaint" - but that opens up the Intel options, why not purchase the best possible water cooler and compare it to stock cooler AMD? Since Intel makes no recommendation... "If the AMD recommended cooler sucks ass then they should not recommend it" - that's just being disingenuous. AMD provides you a cooler but does not prevent any aftermarket cooling solutions from being used. If they shoved a Noctua in the box it would force them to charge more for the combo.

+Gordon Goodman "Why should Intel go out of their way to furnish a cooler for the competition when they let the competition furnish its own?" 1. The testing was performed by Principled Technologies, not Intel. 2. Because it looks like you're skewing the results and it leads to bad PR. "It is well established this benchmark is funded by Intel and therefore biased isn't it? Why complain about it?" - the point of a bias is trying not to show it. For more than a decade the tech press had a bias against AMD without even knowing how they were skewing results. That's fucking good. It's stellar. When everyone with half a brain can point out what you did wrong, you're fucking retarded. Or not even trying. "If companies were honest, GamersNexus et al might be out of a job." - if companies were 100% honest, the gains society would achieve would make sure the good people at GN would be employed.

+Gordon Goodman "Fair in the sense that AMD was permitted to supply the cooler of choice" - this isn't about "permission". In what fucking world do you assume that some guy who's gonna fit 64 goddamn gigabytes of RAM into his system and wonder which processor is the best, would for some reason take a pick between Ryzen+stock cooler and intel+noctua? "It's not like Intel tossed the boxed cooler in the garbage and went in search of the shottiest cooler on the market to make AMD look bad" - no, they just gave one the stock option and the other gave an AFTERMARKET PERFORMANCE PART. "If the supplied cooler is not up to snuff, supply a better one next time." - it's not about being up to snuff THE INTEL PART HAD A CLEAR ADVANTAGE BY USING A "MORE EXPENSIVE THAN STOCK" OPTION. Imagine comparing two engines, but in one of the engines tested the brand doesn't provide an intercooler so it is allowed to pick a an aftermarket kit to achieve greater boost. How the fuck is that a fair assessment of the two engines' performance? "Nothing I just said was subjective." - how is it not objective? Your "permission" excuse is literally just an opinion. It's not an objective fact that Ryzen must be compared to Intel on stock coolers while Intel is allowed Noctua coolers. "AMD made it easy to do in the case of the fan though." - how the fuck are they making it "easy"? It does not take any extra effort to ignore the stock cooler if you want performance.

+Gordon Goodman lmao by that logic let's award the gold medal to the person doing steroids and shame the clean competitors for not doing PEDs too.
