@FuzzyDlop "The Last of Us 2 and Ghost of Tsushima on a BASE PS4, which no game on PC can compare to even with a 2080 Super or Ti" - Yeah and no game on PS4 looks like MS Flight Simulator 2020. Funny how exclusives work, right?

@Demonslayer20111 "do some research" - okay, when was the last time you checked their servers to make sure no logs were saved?

+Astfgl it's not ridiculous in a car because cars are mobile and unplugged from any external power source. Gasoline, LPG, diesel etc have greater energy density than stuff like hydrogen (hydrogen molecule is H2, gasoline is C8H18). Even if you compress hydrogen to liquid (which in itself is a whole new problem) the gasoline still carries more energy in the tank. It's not ridiculous because you have to understand that batteries were terrible for storing energy in a vehicle. Look at electric airplanes, they had to be super lightweight flying wings with solar panels on top. The first electric ducted fan aircraft which was more or less conventional only flew a few years ago.

I explained the "AAAAHHHH MOTHERLAND" and "but I am le tired" references to my brother the other day because he was completely lost when I used them.

To be fair, without viewers you don't get sponsors either. But you also get less viewers if you don't have lots of sponsors sending you material.

@bashkit there's gaming forum posts where FTW was used as "for the win" dating back to 2003, while EVGA seems to only have been using FTW on their products since the GTX 2xx series, 2008.

@goldoryellow6882 there's nothing wrong with customizing hardware but when you're buying something unique most people don't think about making changes to it. It's like adding a ricer spoiler to a Ferrari. Again, there's nothing wrong with painting the case but most people wouldn't because of its rarity.

@BobLSaget "1 foot of tubing can probably dissipate ~1-3watts or something not to significant, if the tubing was fluted or finned it could drastically increase it." - so basically have finstacks around tubing filled with liquid? Hmmmmmmmmmmm

I see 21:9 being used all the time in flight simulators, the problem is the lack of vertical field of view but that is sort of tackled by TrackIR. Plus, people who play with airliners in flight sims would be looking through a wide but short array of viewports so it doesn't break immersion. There's also the fact that triple 4:3 would have the bezels really close to each other.

+Marlin Robertson then Buzzfeed articles aren't clickbait because they do give you a top ten list of stuff like the title promised. The "and this happened", "what happened will warm your heart", etc are cookie cutter clickbait techniques.
2
+Fuzzy Duo to be honest the people making the content of the game aren't the same ones optimizing it. Better writing and more interesting quests won't come by eliminating 3-way sli support, if anything people tinkering with the game engine trying to optimize it can only be good for the community in general.

mbrij 96 High specific impulse matters more than energy density in spacecraft. You can have a gigantic reservoir of hydrogen attached to a shuttle/inside a rocket, but in a car you have limited space.

@TheFacialHairsBeardy wasn't it proven nvidia was holding onto cards for artificial scarcity and dumped them onto partners once the crypto rush died?
2
@Demonslayer20111 okay, when was the last time you whitehat hacked their servers yourself?

@13n1304 You're taking this too literally. The X only needs to get lucky once and the Y needs to be lucky every time is just a figure of speech.

Late stage/terminal... as if this is somehow new. Everyone wants to predict the final stage and everyone has been wrong. But we've been rebuilding on top of rubble and ashes for the entirety of human history. What you think is novel is just a cycle of death and rebirth.

I bought two DDR2 800MHz 1GB sticks recently for a total of 4 GB for my 3.0GHz Core 2 Duo. Contain your orgasms.

lol I'm running a dual core E8400 and GTS250, from 2008 as well, I think. Only switched the PSU because I was afraid my NOX was frying my 250.

I understand that you asking it to be done just for the sake of it, but wouldn't nvidia cards already be able to do the phys-x stuff on their own with better results?

May I ask what the fuck is wrong with the cooling parts? If you take your car for an inspection every year and every time they find a leak you've been buying shitty car parts.

@disgustedluigi Bruh I'm European and almost everyone I know from my generation is buying a house. The only people renting are the ones who have no need/means to buy. For example my grandmother would not get a loan to buy a house in the city so she rents. But she also owns a home in the countryside anyway.

@haroldrobinson5205 but it's gonna get an xobx release... That's why I mentioned exclusives. "I've seen games that look better on console" - With the same draw distance?
1
@Demonslayer20111 so you're receiving information from "forums" and not looking into it first hand. You're not doing research, you're trusting some guy who for all we know, could have been paid by NordVPN to say they're not storing data. Also, your "research" hinges on NordVPN having security not good enough to resist whitehat hackers. This means that blackhats will have access to information NordVPN claims they aren't storing. So you can trust NordVPN, but you can't trust them with your information because it's easily stolen.
1
@Demonslayer20111 even if they don't technically "store" anything all your data goes through them. What you're saying is like having a computer with a fresh windows install and saying you are immune to hackers because you're only using Microsoft Edge to browse the web and don't save anything on the drive. Your computer actually downloads the data and saves it temporarily so the browser can access the data and display it to you. If you have a hacker intruding on your computer he can see everything you do even if all the temporary data is wiped after you're done. So if you count on a VPN to be hackable so you can verify it's not storing or selling your data, you can count on hackers being able to read everything that goes through the VPN and essentially make it useless. "Nothing is totally secure" - saying that nothing is secure is very different from essentially saying that you depend on VPNs being so permeable any white hat can tell what they're doing. There's a big difference between a company that has teams of skilled hackers spend 5 years to find a breach, and a business that sells its service as a security measure being so security averse that they let anyone hack into it.
1
@fluffybunny7089 "Hacking a VPN gives an attacker access to the same amount of information an ISP would have" - that's scary enough for me, considering that one of the selling points of VPNs is being able to hide your activity from even your ISP.
1
@fluffybunny7089 "the hackers would have a hard time matching your internet information with your personal information" - isn't the fact that it's easy to match internet information with personal information the whole point of getting a VPN?
1
@Cheeseypoofs85 well, not even those are safe. That's why if you want to hack people in the US, you rent servers in Russia or something.
1
@Stackali because typically when something is rare you try to preserve it because you might not come across one again. I'm buying a few Microsoft Sidewinder FFB2 joysticks online for cheap because they're pretty much the only "good" force feedback stick for flight sims and there's people buying them for the purpose of taking them apart. I wanted to buy two to take them apart and double the force of the stick by using two pairs of motors - but now that I scored one I want to buy another and not make the modifications. They're almost historical artifacts of 2000's gaming and I don't want to ruin them.

@jondonnelly3 sli? Already outdated now it's nvidia link or whatever.

Uhhh I was under the impression anything you did on 3ds max had to be rendered beforehand because it would be too much to handle in real time.
1
@MetalMachine131 the problem is that those 5-6 bucks probably add 30 to the sticker price. Aesthetics is marketing and you're paying for it.
1
@japaneserequired6314 No, but Ferrari would face bankrupcy and adapt to the market. Ford made the Mustang an EV. Think about it.
1
@urorazbojnik5678 "production doesn't cost that much" - Adding up the components and manufacturing costs for the PS3 resulted in 800 dollars. for the 20GB model. They were selling it for 499. The PS4 reportedly cost 380 to manufacture and retailed for 399. That's narrow. "look at intel cpu's, sold for 2000$ then when the first real competitor came they crashed the price" - Think about what you said. Intel had no competitor. Sony has Microsoft as a direct competitor. So what you said doesn't apply to consoles.
