  2. The unprotected planes were on the flight line, where they're kept in a ready state. The protected aircraft were in revetments. Because ammo and fuel were hit, bombs and fuel were spilled all over, even inside the revetments. The satellite pictures that show burnt area pretty much make it clear the fires were spread wide.

  12. This effects the front line, Russia was providing air support from that base. It also forces air defenses to be moved to the bases to protect them, meaning that Ukrainians might be able to use more air support.

  13.  @kentershackle1329  Any aircraft can perform CAS. There's more air support than just CAS. Perhaps don't learn about aviation from videogames? Without fighters, you cannot cover air support craft (including CAS). 200km is nothing for an aircraft. Do you think Russia is flying fighters 5km from the frontline? They'd be shelled. The Ukrainian doctrine is grind down the advancing forces, when positions are unsustainable move back and repeat. Even DPR fighters are complaining that Ukrainians have experienced fighters because they prioritize the survival of troops, while they have fresh conscripts getting mowed down.
