@Cousin Eddie So you're hinging on Tesla's programmers being smarter than every single hacker in the world combined. Open source displays all the vulnerabilities for the world to see. Closed source is security through obscurity.

@Cousin Eddie You place your life and trust in total strangers already. What a ridiculous statement. Plus, you already trust open source - most of the internet is running on Linux. If you don't trust open source, unplug right now.

@Cousin Eddie What a crappy argument. I don't need to break into anything, your VPN uses Linux servers, your email probably uses Linux servers, and if you trust ANY closed source software you're also entrusting strangers based on their loyalty to a paycheck. No matter what, unless you built your own components from scratch, wrote your own OS, run your own servers and your own internet, you're always bound to trusting strangers. And they're doing their job for public good or a paycheck. If you can't trust people to do things for good, can you even trust those who do it for money? By challenging me, you're ironically reinforcing your trust on the open source systems you rely on.

@Cousin Eddie You're under-analyzing. You put implicit trust on everything you use, and all of it was designed and built by strangers. Again, breaching the car is more likely with closed source software because vulnerabilities will stay hidden. With open source, EVERYONE knows about the vulnerability so it can get patched. What do you think has more spelling mistakes? A personal journal or a published book with multiple editions?

@cuda426hemi "The idea of rights is hilarious - just look at the idiots that don't wear masks- it's their right - to kill you, right?" - You're going to wear that mask forever. When this pandemic ends, diseases caused by bacteria or viruses won't stop existing. You will continue to exhale pathogens. If you actually believe that not wearing a mask is killing people, I hope you stay true to your convictions. You will never remove that mask ever again. If you do, you're a hypocrite.

@cuda426hemi "Socialist Idea as Right To Repair" - lmao do you people take credit for every idea?

@Danielle-xs5cz If you think the fire department has any obligation to save your stuff, how about you find out in court? Try to sue a fire department for letting your house burn down.

@Danielle-xs5cz "Your fundamental understanding of fire departments is wrong" - No, your understanding of the argument is wrong and that's why you brought up the fire department in a way it shouldn't have. It simply doesn't work. If a manufacturer takes your money but doesn't give you the phone you paid for that's fraud, if the cops can't prevent every single crime and the fire department can't put out every fire that an issue they can't be held liable for.

@Danielle-xs5cz You don't even know what you're arguing against. This isn't about how fast something burns, we were talking about entitlement and payment for services. And they put out the fire every time doesn't even make sense, all that means is that at some point the fire is going to run out of fuel or the weather will change in a way that makes harder for flames to propagate. Entire states/countries can go up in flames and countless homes and forests. You can't say "they put out the fire though". That's like if Apple had a million orders for an iPhone, they deliver 10k, and say they provided the service.
