@MrsZambezi Soap and water work at the chemical level by outright destroying the casing. If you've ever dropped dishwasher soap on your greasy pile of dishes you've seen how it works. A mask can grab droplets, but those are mostly ejected by coughing, sneezing and talking to someone's face - the virus is bad and scary because it's airborne. Most of the masks in current use do not filter aerosolized particles and even if they did, they are unsealed. Anyway, his argument wasn't that masks don't work. It was if you really thought there was a deadly virus in the air, you wouldn't even leave the home. Or if you did, you'd be wearing a full NBC suit. But somehow you didn't get it and went straight for the masks don't work argument, even if he didn't actually state that.
