@elta6241 Aircraft used to crash by the dozen and kill pilots left and right until the kinks and training issues were figured out. The classic aircraft everyone loves were death traps compared to the F-35.

@AtlantiansGaming he became an audio engineer after leaving the DoD. His field of education was maths and he left the aeronautical field for his passion, music. The fraud was in the made up narrative regarding the fighter mafia and never correcting anyone who says he designed aircraft, because he was an analyst for the military. One who stopped being relevant the day he left and never worked in the design teams of aircraft manufacturers.

@user-pq4by2rq9y It didn't cost a trillion. That's the cost to purchase, maintain, repair, refuel a +2000 strong fleet until 2070.

@monty2654 a lot of fighters prior to the F-35 had horrible accidents and tragic fatalities. Flying was always a dangerous game. The F-35 is comparatively safe.

@Omniseed Cancelling programs like that is snatching victory from the jaws of defeat. The F-22 is too expensive to maintain today because the government killed it before the USAF could get the minimum airframes it wanted (around 300, half of the 700 initially planned).

The USMC lost like 20 pilots on those.

Buddy Russian aircraft are crashing into apartment blocks.

@johnfilmore7638 the B was the primary airframe. Since the CALF program days that it was a USMC bird the USAF agreed to buy a conventional take off version of. So it always starts with the B.

Seethe and mald.

Finding it is a PITA but with the PW 100-229 (I think that's the model) there's been one F-15 airfame loss from Class A mishap and zero F-16 losses from Class A mishaps.

Amazing how I've been reading this comment for the past 15 years. It's always the same spiel.

It's not a trillion dollars. Stop lying.

Okay. But we use F-16s to mimic agile fighters (aggressor squadrons use it as MiG-29s) and to perform deep strike missions (Operation Opera). Where are the dedicated aircraft? Multiroles have replaced them.

Lol let's apply inflation to old crashes, that's gonna be fun.

How us the F-35 a failure?
1
Specialized aircraft are better? Name a few.

It's not meant to replace the F-15, the F-22 is the F-15 replacement, and the A-10 has already been replaced hy the F-16. Just not on paper because Congress doesn't allow it. "China has the plans" even if they did, do what? You can't cheat physics.

@monty2654 They entered mass production and kept killing people.

@kilianklaiber6367 aircraft cover different time frames, duh
1
@kilianklaiber6367 If we take the first 10 years of operation of an airframe and the first 10 years of another, the total service time doesn't matter. Most crashes happen in the early days.
