@nishantpradhan7828 It's not about something being wrong. It's the Hitler was vegan argument. How many political movements around the world used "take X country back". Seems like something that would be used by multiple people, like Trump didn't invent Make America Great Again. Reagan used it. Clinton used it for himself and then later for his wife in 2008. Taking one's country back is a pretty generic phrase.

@nothanks3590 not really. According to the Militia Act of 1903 every able bodied male 18-45 is part of the militia. Several states also have laws that officially accept all able bodied males as part of their state militia. You only take part if you want but it was the solution to define the status of the National Guard as the organized militia.

@immanueldarjean5050 so McCain stood up to a corrupt president by saying we needed to bomb Iran, getting money from the Saudis through donations to Arizona universities redirected to his foundation, arming ISIS...? His brain tumor deserved the Nobel Peace Prize.

Occupy was initially grassroots. One of the guys who organized it came forward saying that it was co-opted.

@upyall many moved onto the libertarian party, which went to shit after Gary Johnson's campaign after he picked a non-libertarian running mate, started agreeing with non-libertarian ideals and made himself look like an idiot with the Aleppo gaffe. I'd assume many died, because that shit started more than a decade ago and plenty of them were old people. In the end a lot of us became full blown anarchists and reject politics entirely.

I supported Obama because of his promises to end the war, stop the spying, close Gitmo. When he quickly revealed to just be Bush 2.0 I discovered that there were people interested in liberty just like liberals in the early 2000s used to be. The Tea Party movement allowed me to research more about economics and libertarianism while I watched it become co-opted and get run into the dirt.

MichXJdad the issue is that good cops voluntarily signed up to enforce unjust laws so even "good" cops made a conscious decision to step into the septic tank. In a political movement, you literally have no authority unlike a cop. You can't exactly file a report on your fellow people. As long as someone is willing to spend money it's possible to drown out the original intent of the movement.

While some gangs did originate from the black panther party, I was expecting him to say black separatists. Black separatists or nationalists got a much worse connotation than militant. Hell, nobody bats an eye at militant, but mention militia and everyone thinks of the Viper militia and McVeigh.
