Richard Martinez this is riddiculous. People have the right to put what they want on their bodies. But no right to kill others.

@TheNondiscriminatory the Taliban haven't been taken out. In fact just a few months ago the US was trying to strike a peace deal with them. The Afghanistan government doesn't control much of the country. If the US pulls out, the Taliban take over again.

@Likeaworm the insurgency wasn't effective because of equipment. It was effective because it was an insurgency. You fill one of those big concrete sewer drains with fertilizer and cap it with copper sheet, it's gonna send a huge slug at high velocity capable of making a tank throw a thread. The tank is now immobile for as long as it takes to bring in a repair vehicle. The boys are out shooting at Americans? As soon as they call for air support there's some farmer dude looking at the runway who whips out his cell phone and tells the boys to skeddaddle. Toss the AKs in a cache and ride dirtbikes away from the area before helicopters or airplanes can arrive to look for them.

@ohayosumodayton1226 You can't fight them like an army. They're not an army. That's the point of the insurgency. I suggest googling Wendell Fertig. He took command of resistance groups and even criminal gangs in the Philippines and gave the Japanese hell. The Japanese were brutal. You think that if the Japanese fought the Philippines resistance the way they fought against US troops they wouldn't have won? They would. They were better manned, better equipped, better trained. In a head to head fight it would have been a massacre. But they couldn't fight head to head. That would be stupid. As an insurgency, you always pick the time and place for the battle. When the colonies bitchslapped King George, I'm 99% sure the UK was the biggest Empire in the world at the time. "the world can't stomach fighting an entire people and civilian casualties anymore." - uh, you should look up civilian casualties of war in the Middle East the last 20 years. The world can stomach a lot, especially since most people aren't even paying attention. You think anyone gives a shit about what the Saudis are doing to Yemen? Most people don't even know there's a war there.

They get guns from Mexican police and army. They import hand grenades from Korea. If you can't control the flow of drugs you can't control the flow of guns.

@Hans Hanson he was referencing Fast anf Furious, where the ATF under Obama's administration tried to make a sting operation by letting cartels buy guns with no problem because they've be able to track them. Then they lost track of the guns.
