  3.  @tonkatoytruck  I don't know where your evidence is, I can't find it and in fact I came across evidence to the contrary. You made the claim, burden is on you.

  4.  @shanefiddle  I don't consider 8-10 years a short while. Solar only works during the day, depends on the weather and is almost useless the further away from the equator your house is. I think solar is great for self-suficiency/off-grid but generally speaking it can't provide constant and predictable energy.
