  1. ITmage I'm not American. Yes, you are free to speak, but we are also free to criticize your speech. The problem isn't that you think that the author sucks, the problem is that you're taking personally legitimate criticisms of a vehicle. I admit that I like bad movies, and bad music, the criticism doesn't reflect itself on me, I'm not going to sit here and pretend that schlock movies or uninspired pop music have great artistic value. Your argument is like liking Britney Spears' music, hearing someone using his knowledge of music theory to explain why her songs aren't very good, and you'll sit here and argue that her songs have artistic value and are masterfully composed. It doesn't mean you can't enjoy Britney Spears, it doesn't mean you can't have fond memories of listening to her, and it doesn't mean Britney Spears is a bad person.

I didn't know that calling out the flaws in a motor vehicle is lack of education because someone may have owned the vehicle and for some reason it's a personal insult to them.   7. Will W First of all, if one has the ability to, a driving school would be a better investment than any mod. Squeezing every last bit of performance out of a shitty car is an underestimated skill. Second, people need to be honest with themselves and decide what they're looking for. Status symbol with a luxury interior and resale value? Yeah, not getting that one out of a modded car. But, and I'm spitballing here, 50% of the people who think like that are shitty drivers who'll never get the most out of the V8, V10 or V12 under the hood and are probably more interested in how much tail the car is going to get them. I have a friend who probably has 5k put into a car for the track. It's meant to be abused at the track, he doesn't care about depreciation and honestly the car can't go into negative value so he'll never lose that much if he does end up selling it. He was honest about what he wanted, it's definitely not a daily driver.

  10. "Some places were better in communist days" - not necessarily due to communism being better, but because communism itself left the country crippled and miserable for future generations. I'm also from Europe and many people say we had it better back when we had Fascism. Except it was a lie. Everyone was poorer, everyone was less educated and there's also the disadvantage that if you attempted to live freely the secret police would snatch you. Yes, banks went bankrupt, people lost their jobs etc but back then there was famine and illiteracy. Things are better now, but appear worse. Things were worse then, but nostalgia and the government propaganda made Fascism appealing. Same with communism. Like Putin said, if you don't miss the Soviet Union you have no heart, if you want the Soviet Union back you have no brain.

  12. look, I hear the same things. But people working blue collar jobs are now able to afford plane tickets and cars. Back in the old days a lot of people working white collar jobs couldn't. What you're seeing is an effect of market economies, commodities produced in relatively competitive markets had their prices plummet and so we can literally buy phones which are pocket computers with cameras, but we're spending more on things like rent because real estate development is stagnating. But that's another topic. There's a problem with "literally everyone having a job" - most likely such jobs were unecessary/inefficient but because keeping people in line with the regime meant hiding the problems under the rug, they still existed. I can go to a construction site and create jobs on the spot - replace every shovel by a plastic spoon, and more people will be necessary to dig. However, was the construction site meant to construct something, or to create jobs? In my effort to create jobs I put a strain on society, the construction will cost more and take longer to build, and that cost will be passed on to society.

The moment I mention the Great Leap Forward you'll switch gears and then claim that China was never in real communism, and that it's state capitalism or some shit. It's a superpower thanks to all the jobs that were outsourced to China. You claim communism is so great because everyone has jobs, look at the jobs they got! Slave sweat shop labour. Thankfully capitalism is pulling China out of the gutter, it's becoming a tech giant, people have more money, in fact standards of living improving has lead to many sweat shops being relocated to Pakistan or Bangladesh because Chinese labour is becoming too expensive. The good things from China are all due to the Communist-in-name-only ruling party opening itself to capitalism, and the bad things stem from government corruption and their authoritarian rule stealing their people's freedoms.

I wouldn't pay for a car I wouldn't want even if I had the money for it, but someone somewhere has the money and the intent to buy it.

  15. +John Voltz that's not true at all, it's simply the market responding to supply and demand. Rich people aren't gatekeeping anything. A "worthless" Ferrari demanding 50k (I've actually looked it up and apparently some have been found for 25k but that's beside the point) is due to the fact that it's a Ferrari. You're complaining that they're junk and ugly, but you know they're a Ferrari and so would everyone else that would see you driving one down the street. If you're "poor" sports cars may be the wrong hobby, but a middle class person can buy a Ferrari. And the reason why is that people will let go a Ferrari for 25k because if and when something goes wrong it's going to cost another 25k to fix. In the end, anyone who's middle class and has half a brain will not buy a "cheap" Ferrari because they're expensive to maintain.

  16. revolutionday1 You do know that cars have very slim profit margins and they make profits in the service that cars require in their life span, right? A certain model not being profitable is no big deal. Look at all the wasted man-hours on those concept cars that never get produced. There's a higher purpose behind everything, even when you do it out of love for your own customer base. To deny it is to be naive. Sony also lost money on every PS3, and I think PS4, they made on the first batch. They lose money for the sake of establishing a customer base. Sony doesn't make consoles at a loss for the enthusiasts because enthusiasm doesn't pay the bills.

  17. revolutionday1 So far I've only said that cars have thin margins, brands take losses in the name of marketing, and that it's commonplace and a well known practice to let products out the door at a loss in the name of profits to be made somewhere else. If you're scoffing at facts, it's really not our of character considering you're crying about what people do to their private property. You can't redistribute motor vehicles, "Comrade".
