  3. They produce engineers, we hire them. One of the benefits of knowing how to read Cyrillic is that I can look at the t-shirts and polos of Russian "refugees" and I can tell which company they worked for in Russia before they fled mobilization.

  9.  @blackcatdungeonmastersfami5311  But railways are terrible for low population density. Rail has to network a lot of people to be feasible. Last mile is almost always road-bound motor vehicles, people can't have trail stations in front of every grocery store to haul goods. They'd have won by now if their stuff didn't keep failing.

  12. ​ @ChristopherFodor  The rail isn't the problem. A tunnel and bridge were targeted. To rebuild rail over a bridge, you have to repair the bridge. To rebuild rail in a tunnel that had a fire... buddy both rebar and concrete lose strength in fires, you couldn't pay me to go into that tunnel to repair it.

  14. A derailment can be fixed. This was a tunnel on fire. Do you know what kind of inferno a tunnel fire is?

  15.  @blackcatdungeonmastersfami5311  Concrete is damaged by heat and rebar loses adhesion to concrete under high temperatures. You have to dig out the damaged structure and recast new concrete.

  16.  @blackcatdungeonmastersfami5311  Dude., The heat came from the MASSIVE FIRE of the fuel cars in the train. Doesn't have to collapse. After it's damaged it has to be repaired. Unless you want to be on the hook for the fatalities once disaster happens.

  17. A megaproject like that would be visible from space. Ever seen prison/camp escape movies? One of the challenges with digging a hole out is hiding all the dirt. If a hole sized for a man to crawl through creates enough dirt for prison guards to notice, the rock and rubble piles would be seen on Google Earth.
