  2. Zeihan has mentioned it a lot. The problem is the sheer cost of bringing the mining equipment there and then hauling ore into the nearest port. Afghanistan is too mountainous and isolated so despite having incredible mineral wealth, it's so expensive to dig it out and export that it makes sense to leave it alone.

  3.  @c123bthunderpig  Look for "Where in the World: Split Rock, and Afghan Minerals", that's the title of the video where he mentions it. But he has said it on other podcasts, it's just difficult to look for.
