The "F-35 can't dogfight" was clickbait journalism from a writer who didn't understand the leaked report and totally misread what it meant. Within visual range you're not expected to survive an encounter with the F-35 as it can pull high AoA and point its nose without making a turn.

@nd15music73 By the admission of North Vietnamese generals, they were defeated in the Tet Offensive but lucked out in the public support for the war plummeting in the US. The Vietcong were nearly wiped out and had to dbe replaced by NVA regulars. That's how bad they got beat.

That means dependence on 1) who has the uranium mines and 2) who built your nuclear facilities. Even if you have an entirely domestic weapons program, you could not have started from scratch with your reactor designs nor extract your own uranium as a smaller non-aligned country.

@eccoecco8648 Neither Japan or Germany could take on America. It's very important to remember - the US could do both Europe and the Pacific at the same time, but Germany and Japan would be outstretching their logistics well past the limit trying to invade. Zee Germans were content with keeping the British across the channel. Invading the US would be a big ask.

Number is growing because we live longer, not because children are being born more often.

It's really their fault.

@nd15music73 Britain only had to BTFO the Argies out of the islands. The US had to BTFO the Soviet backed North in their own country with strategic bombing campaigns. A little tougher nut to crack.

@nd15music73 Even if Argentina was competent, they were stretched beyond their limit. Even Harriers could fight Argentine jets simply because they could not fly at high speeds or they'd run out of fuel at sea.

I heard of Javelin shortages, not of 777 shortages.

Tell Putin to keep nukes off the table and we'll tell the Ukrainians to step aside. You think the 1991 Gulf War was a curb stomp? You have seen nothing yet.

Thank you Simon from New Orleans Oblast. By reading this I am truly demoralized.

Been hearing that one for 9 months, Ivan. Russia didn't use nukes in Afghanistan or Chechnya. Fact.

Arms manufacturers do not get richer. They get contracts to replace old stuff. Instead of getting paid in 2025 or 2028 they get paid now - but the money they get is the same.

I think this war is teaching China a lesson: stick to the parades - you're not solving anything militarily.

"Muh nukes" after 9 months of this (and a decade of saber rattling) I am so sick of hearing about the Russian nukes. Either shit or get off the pot.
1
@LakeVibe365 Putin has been walking himself into corners and claiming he's cornered. Ffs how can you scream about "muh NATO" when you invade all your neighbors?
1
More like to the last Russian. The Bakhmut advances show Russians advancing along the piles of bodies from previous failed offensives.

I think Fukuyama deserves an apology, tbh.

If 85% of the population is 50% people in retirement age, that's not great.
1
There's no actual red button. The generals have to issue the order and the men in the firing stations need to obey.
1
Why?

@mattsmith1137 But they won't. Not soon or later - Russia is spent and is now a madman swinging a knife with a bullet lodged in the heart. Still dangerous, but the wound is fatal. Let him swing at air.
1
No. Their plan was to knock out the Pacific presence at Pearl Harbor and secure themselves their imperial ambitions.

@ja37d-34 the point being that the US doesn't necessarily need Javelins except for fighting off large tank forces. One is getting defeated in Ukraine, the other is a defensive tank force protecting China's borders rather than a Pacific naval asset. Abrams can easily be used to destroy enemy tanks so the Javelins are a redundant capability as we also have TOWs.
