Wrong way to think about it. It's the innocent who should have privacy, the criminals lose their rights by infringing on others'. You don't walk around naked to prove your innocence while criminals go around fully masked, that's nonsense.

"In seconds" + 2 weeks shipping lul

Companies use footage of their workers as "stock footage" for ads, I've seen peopls I know in ads. The reason Temu is paying is because they need people to advertise their stuff. Just sign up for a talent agency and do ads at that point, you'll end up making more than 50 bucks.

It's called a loss leader. They're cutting out middlemen and taking advantage of subsidized shipping to then still lose money on sales so they get you addicted to it. One day they'll raise prices to 25€ and you'll say "I'll just buy local" but the stores went out of business.

Dealing directly with China? Someone post the "never learn Mandarin" copypasta.

@pakane24 Well, you shouldn't be buying from "dropshippers" anyway and you can look into the known effect of online shopping getting worse and worse as you are losing the consistency of brands to "dropshipping". Instead of John starting John Brand and gaining a reputation, where he finds a good supplier and earning your trust that he's bringing you a decent product, while taking the losses whenever a supplier scams him, you're directly buying from a business which you don't know if it's actually trying to make a good product or just pumping out trash, going out of business and restarting under a different name. When John isn't building a brand and is simply holding inventory so that Amazon can do prime shipping, he's not doing much for you. Dealing directly with China, you're going in raw. No protection. Until you establish a repertoire with a supplier you have no idea what they're about. Because in China you can make more money just closing your business and starting under a different name than being consistent and grinding your way up.

I'm not going to war against my own country. China is a hostile nation. I'm not afraid of prison, I'm afraid that this showdown ends up going kinetic.

You shop like a millionaire? Millionaires get entire shops closed for themselves. They don't buy plastic trinkets. Also, implying that there aren't millionaires running privacy OS on their personal phones. And Temu's ad is "shop like a BILLIONAIRE". Already downgraded? How much longer unti "shop like middle class"?

Remember when nationalist Chinese started burning H&M products? After the Uyghur slavery concerns some clothing brands stopped buying cotton from Xinjiang province. Western brands may not be saints, but when push comes to shove they are aware of PR nightmares and switch suppliers. Dare your friends to find the most unethical component in the xbox and start a campaign for it to get changed. Microsoft will most likely do something.
