  1. Tyler Witkin supposedly played SQ42 start to finish in 2016. Don't ask what happened to that finished build of the game (that nobody ever saw).

  4. That just means everyone from the crowdfunding to the terms of service change was scammed. They went around saying "just around the corner, guys" and promised several release dates that they missed. Someone who buys the alpha today is getting a different deal. The current alpha was built off the original backers.

  5. ​ @GrimGatsby  The "playable" version you're talking about was just a hangar to look at the ships. They did not have free flight in 2013.

  6. CDPR finished the Witcher 3 DLC in 2016 which meant they could not have spent 9 years in development. Cyberpunk was a mess on launch but it took maybe a year and a half to make it acceptable. CIG has blown past such a timeframe multiple times.

  7. To be fair... a lot of kickstarters were done to make a vertical slice and then pitch the game to investors. They have a higher chance of investing if you have an actual studio and a playable demo.

  8. ​ @kajmak64bit76  Lul read the actual letter from the chairman. Roberts said that more money would mean FASTER development. And they had two votes, with the second vote being 52% yes to 48% no. Almost a 50:50 split in the community.

  12. For years it was not possible to grind for ships and when it became possible the frequent wipes, and progress-erasing bugs/crashes made the purchase more convinient. How many millions did they make until grinding became feasible?

  16. The vote was for stretch goals that could be delivered after release. And Roberts said more money would mean faster development. That's what people voted for.

  17. SC is in alpha. If it has been released it's time to hit the storefronts and get reviewed for what it is.

  19. Hardware will be more powerful but the engine will be ancient. A lot of old games don't necessarily run that well because the extra power isn't used.

  20. It was attempted but the German courts couldn't make a distinction between a finished game and an alpha. The legal system has not caught up to the early access model. They also use the "pledge" trickery to mask a purchase that somehow is a donation but you pay sales tax on it.

  22. They're not transparent at all. Still waiting to see them show the 2016 build of SQ42 that Tyler Witkin said was playable from start to finish.

  23. Because it's a hybrid of CryEngine 3, Amazon Lumberyard (a fork of CryEngine in itself) and custom code. It's a niche solution of spaghetti code that nobody else in the industry is familiar with, and even Amazon has given up on Lumberyard. It's got more red flags than a May Day parade.

  25. The early backers wanted it. The hilarious conundrum caused by "games development as live service" is that the new money wants to elbow the old money in the face and tell them to get lost. The only reason Star Citizen exists is because the early backers financed SQ42.
