  1. The point is that services can be geofenced. Doesn't matter the reason why, the important aspect is that it can be done - you shouldn't depend on something that can be taken away from you.

The reason "why" is completely irrelevant, could be because your own country blocked the services, could be because the company is trying to herd people into country-specific versions against consumers' wishes to use the version they're used to, the company's web services being attacked which could make you unable to operate the system for a day or more. It's completely immaterial what the underlying reason is, the fact of the matter is that 1. it can be done and 2. there's a myriad of reasons why it could happen. There's no point about obsession over what the reason is, the point is that you don't want to be stuck holding the bag and should seek to have control over the software you use. Do you have any argument in favor of using Microsoft or are you just doing this to remind us there's a war going on? I follow the war reporting and defense related news closely, I don't need a reminder when we're just talking about personal computers and the downsides of software as a service.
