Not necessarily fatal. Most of the blast is absorbed by the fuselage. The impacf with the ground is the equivalent of a pretty bad car crash, but you also have more metal protecting the occupant. It's a complete toss up, humans have survived much worse but they could have been unlucky. If there were people in the transport area their survival chances are lower than pilot and gunner.

@AwesomeDesertTrains "the a10 is one hell of an accurate platform and there is a reason why it’s still in service" - the reason it is still in service is because trying to replace it is an absolute clusterfuck. USAF estimated 15 years to develop a replacement and trying to replace the A10 during the GWOT would mean employing turboprops as a stopgap measure. Bureaucratic inertia is the reason it's still around. From 2006 to 2013 it flew 19% of CAS missions, less than the F-16's 33%. In Operation Inherent Resolve it flew 11% of CAS missions.

@konstandinosverzamanis5699 Because of the break up of the Soviet Union? The maps changing to reflect that doesn't give you the date of origin of a nation.
