  1. Not necessarily fatal. Most of the blast is absorbed by the fuselage. The impacf with the ground is the equivalent of a pretty bad car crash, but you also have more metal protecting the occupant. It's a complete toss up, humans have survived much worse but they could have been unlucky. If there were people in the transport area their survival chances are lower than pilot and gunner.
