  3.  @awesomecooly123  How was it "cherry picked"? I shouldn't need experts to discuss anything. I'm not an expert. I can do math. Give me the numbers, I can run them without expertise needed. No expert can break the laws of physics to whittling down an issue to be bare physics involved makes it impossible for the "experts" to try and cloud people's judgements. It's like solar roadways. I don't need an expert in PV panels and an expert in asphalt to debate. I can run the numbers and see it's a bad idea.

  5. This. If Mercedes made a bomb proof car, people would complain about the price. Nobody would think "what a great deal, I'll drive it until 2070!".

  6. It's not planned obsolecence if there is no intent to cause failure. "It doesn't have to last past X years" doesn't mean "make it fail after X years". Because if you take care of your stuff, it will last well beyond X. It's just that the average consumer has no idea what he's doing. Making small batches of bomb proof cars for a minority of gearheads would not be profitable even with a price premium.
