The democratically elected Yanukovych fled because he betrayed the security services who would face murder trials for the carnage during Maidan while he had immunity, and the democratically elected Verkhovna Rada voted that a fleeing president had to be removed from his seat.

  17.  @CrankCase08  Because part of the deal with Yanukovich would involve inquiries into the violence in the protests. Maidan had no barely started. It started in late 2013. The deal was made in 21 February. That was when security forces left in the late afternoon. You have no right to talk about timings being mixed up when you claim that a protest that lasted from December through January and then most of February had barely started. Yanukovych was not forced to flee. He fled because he realized the police. There was no coup. Yankukovych left. The parliament simply voted. A government voting on something isn't a coup. It's the opposite of a coup.
