  3. @@stewart3134 It was the borderland between Europe and the "wildlands" in the Caucasus. It had nothing to do with Russia but the fact that if you went past Ukraine, you'd be going towards the middle east.

  4.  @comeforaride  You are allowed to trade land for time. For example Bakhmut was supposed to be a delaying tactic before getting to the next defensive line. But Russia got stuck at Bakhmut for months. So when Russia finally takes Bakhmut they will be too spent to break the next defensive line. Remember Lysychansk? Russia declared an operational pause after capturing it - because they suffered too many casualties at Severodonetsk.

The actual data suggests almost nobody but troops died after the first 2 years, and most civilian casualties weren't "killed" but victims of landmines and unexploded ordnance. You know, something that can only be pinned on Russia considering they invaded?

  14.  @comeforaride  Russia throws men at defenses, Ukraine uses defensive positions to destroy the advances and retreats. A defensive war is easier to fight, and Russia willingly rushes forward.

  25. Not true. 1917-1921 the Ukrainians were able to stand their ground against the Bolsheviks so a peace deal where Ukraine SSR would be one of the founding Soviet Republics was reached. They weren't "absorbed" by the USSR. They earned their status as a republic by fighting off the invaders. Those areas are ethnically Russian because of forced displacement during Communist Party rule. Moscow saw fit to take natives and send them to remote areas and replacing them with Russians. Theres's a region in the far east of Russia called Ukrainska.
