  2.  @naemanmalik6107  They usually either create fictional countries, use real countries but state that there's been a revolution and it's just the government that's evil, or they make movies about historical events. On the other hand, the original Red Dawn actually had China as one of the allies of the United States, and the remake changed the invader from China to North Korea.

  3. In the 1990s thanks to the fall of the Soviet Union, many movies that show Russians as the enemy state they are separatists or that the government was seized by ultranationalists. In Air Force One the terrorists support a dictator that the Russians helped aprehend. In Sum of All Fears the plot is that Russia and the US are tricked into fighting each other.
