  2. The "Tempest" is just the nickname, the programme is called Future Combat Air System. So no, "Tempest" is not good. There's a programme name.

  3. We have cruise missiles, glide bombs, anti-radiation missiles, decoys, etc. Cheap ground based anti aircraft systems are just target practice.

  4. You can't keep upgrading, at some point the airframe runs out of hours. There's nothing to learn if you don't have an aircraft industry.

  5. Better have it and not need it than needing it and not having it. Also the last gun kill was decades ago and the F-4 scored most kills with missile anyway.

  6. The F-22's operational costs come from the fact that too few were purchased. This is a problem of the government's own making. 10 "disposable" drones will be disposed of alright. Lack of performance and systems will get them shredded by anti air before they get close.

  7. That sort of jamming just acts as a beacon for a missile to switch to home on jam. All the current talk about jamming really makes it look like it's subtle and not meant to alert the opponent to the fact that he's being jammed, but instead make it look like there's more contacts and/or they're coming from a slightly different direction/speed/distance.
