  4. The message isn't good. The "cool consumer things" are paying wages. Putting food in kids' mouths and a roof over their head. You give up the "cool consumer things", you're not taking money and putting it elsewhere. Those people are out of a job. Now instead of earning a living by giving you products you can buy, those people now need you to give up money (for nothing) while you get no freedom and no better life for those in poverty. Because you took away people's jobs. Under socialism the government would just demand you to do the job at the lowest price possible. After all, they need to give to the poor. Instead of extracting "EXCESS" (not access) revenue, there would be no revenue. The government needs a job done, it has to get done, and you get a nominal reward for your time rather than an actual transaction.
