@swannydabs620 And what happens when police doesn't show up? A man with a gun telling me he called the police? I don't believe him, and the longer I wait the lower are my survival chances. How do I know I'm going to be free rather than have my throat slit in a basement? That's the point where you look for the opening and go for the CCW. Textbook self-defense.

The Night Stalker was positively identified due to his face being on front pages of newspapers. Not because someone saw some guy who looked like some guy on grainy security footage.
7
@HeidiPyke Not true. He was identified through fingerprints he left on a car, the police published his 1984 mugshot to help the public identify him.
6
@plantbased4430 Open carry only means that. You can open carry. You can't do anything else. If you have a gun in hand and giving orders to people you're not open carrying. You're doing something else.
4
@NACAM42 When your backbone ends up killing an innocent person because you misidentified a suspect, write to us from jail. You people sound like the CHAZ border patrol magdumping into a car because they thought teenage joyriders were the fash.
3
@NACAM42 Is Woosh your future cell mate's name?
3
@NACAM42 The killing of an innocent person. You can't kill someone and say "woops I thought it was the person on the CCTV footage I saw 2 weeks ago".
3
@lilartay Police "instructing them" is totally worthless. Police can give bad advice. Get a lawyer instead, and a good one. Listening to incomptent cops can lead to your downfall.
3
@plantbased4430 I don't know and I don't care. I don't see how bringing up another situation matters to this discussion. Were you expecting me to... what? Denounce them? Support them? I have no opinion on the matter because I don't have the information.
3
Intent is irrelevant. People can't go "oopsie daisy we made a mistake and now someone's dead".
3
@lordcavalier9688 Good question. Why not ask the McMichaels if to them there's no judgement between kill or be killed? If a guy walks in a store with gun drawn, he's asking for trouble. If a guy walks in a store with gun drawn and tells everyone we're going to need to wait with him for a while... I don't see how that's going to go nicely for the shoppers.
3
Police advice can be garbage. They're not lawyers. People are able to protect themselves. They just won't be able to summon the Boomerwaffen and start patroling the streets on technicals.
2
@lilartay Career criminal versus people who decided to commit their first crime 5 minutes earlier. Meh.
2
@lilartay Police "instructing them" is totally worthless. Police can give bad advice. Get a lawyer instead, and a good one. Listening to incomptent cops can lead to your downfall.
2
@auroraborealis4137 Doesn't matter. By that logic the mob had the right to beat down Kyle due to his statements that got captured during the CVS looting. They tried to stop him, inadvertently comitted a crime, making Armed Robbery the victim and thus flipping the script. A victim has the right to take the gun away from the criminal and become a lethal threat. If the criminal resists, he does time for the homicide.
2
@flowerjpotter1629 So? People lie. My only point was that you can't retroactively bring up certain aspects of one's life to justify something. Especially if the mob didn't even see that.
2
Doesn't sound riddiculous until someone you know dies as a result of a crime and the criminal gets off in 1-2 years despite causing a death.
2
@IzThatit Recording your actions and giving it up to the police doesn't mean anything. There would be a subpoena.
2
@lvincent8843 It was voluntarily released. My point is that it would have been subpoenaed anyway so there was no point in holding onto it, and we can't infer anything from the intent.
2
@yinglistheyinglet12 The problem is that if you commit a crime and use your firearm to prevent it from being used on you, you just killed a victim. Your options are saving yourself and facing the legal consequences, or grabbing your ankles and kissing your own ass goodbye.
2
@plantbased4430 if you try and use a weapon to stop people in an "open carry state" you're going to get smoked and the person who does it won't get a guilty verdict.
2
@plantbased4430 My "reaction" is that you're trying to justify being a cop wannabe and you think you're talking to a libshit so you bring up the blacks open carrying. I don't give a damn. Were they pretending to be cops? Someone should have "defended" themselves. You're just the equivalent of a liberal but on the right, thinking that I'm going to defend people because they're black.
2
@TheBlockbuster1982 lmao compliance, sounds like Vaush saying Kyle should have surrendered to the mob
2
@roninkraut6873 Doesn't matter. If you cooperate with the guy who pulled the shotgun, even if unplanned, you're still on the hook.
2
@rayf2127 How do you know police is coming?
1
@scottfrazier8105 Doesn't matter if the people attacking Rittenhouse were choir boys. What matters is they attacked.
1
@scottfrazier8105 I don't go off the media's take. I go off my desire to not be approached by gunmen on the street because I look like some criminal.
1
@mr.j7444 How was he to know cops were on the way? Could be a lie.
1
@lilartay If you're arresting the police, forget the law.
1
@XanderFenikkusu Okay. What if the shooter is never caught but you get the rest of the gang? Or what if all the robbers were wearing clothes they disposed off before fleeing so the shooter will not be identified and none of them will admit to the shooting? They all do time for the robbery but nobody does time for the murder and the case gets dropped due to lack of evidence?
1
@plantbased4430 I don't act like an expert. My reaction was denying you a reaction. Have a terrible day.
1
@plantbased4430 How do I come across as one? No libshit I ever known would ever defend whipping out the strap and executing the truck bubbas in """self-defense""". You want to live in a PVP enabled world, you play by PVP rules. No respawns.
1
@plantbased4430 You're the one who brought up black protesters. A libshit does that, which is why you assumed I would defend them based on skin color. I refused to look into the case any further and you got on your "I got what I wanted" shtick. You got nothing. You don't know what libshits are, then. Knowing the enemy is really important, and you're out here thinking libshits are radicals.
1
@plantbased4430 And I looked them up and instantly noticed what you were up to. My mistake, your comment was above one saying "you wouldn't care if the guy was black" so I thought you had brought up race earlier.
1
What happens if you do kill the "suspect" and turns out you misidentified him?
1
@tak4043 You'll find out the hard way the law won't protect you in that instance. You made the mistake, you bear the legal responsibility for that death. Nothing suspicious about a victim feeling cornered and trying to disarm the aggressor.
1
@lycan7157 Do you know the thing where the judge can't define something but he knows it when he sees it? I can tell the difference between open carry and someone looking for trouble.
1
@Lastjustice One guy has the ability to shoot live rounds, and you the ability to shout "stay back". I don't think you win that fight.
1
@Scott6794 A reasonable person could also conclude that the police thing is a lie and it's a kidnapping.
1
@Bourikii2992 They drove past him as a way to corner him between vehicles. You know how an ambush works?
1
@Bourikii2992 He didn't "sneak" past anything.
1
@Lastjustice But that goes both ways. If armed gunmen are coming after me and they have held their fire... I have reasons to think their motives are actually worse than just murder. Was armed robbery aware of the filming? Also, plenty of people film their kills. Remember liveleak? I couldn't make a decision on intent. If you go around chasing people with a gun, you cannot force your victims to make a 100% accurate assessment of your intentions. Your victims are awarded the right to fear for their lives even if you claim that they should have magically read your mind and figured out your intents. Just like many say don't go around robbing construction sites, don't go around chasing random people with a gun. It will go wrong and bad things will happen. "if you tell them you called the police" - Could be a lie. People don't have chips in their brains that force them to tell the truth. "I'd taken my chances trying to talk my way out of situation" - That's great, man. What happens when the "police" finally arrives and it's just more of their friends and they're bringing rope and tape? You had more chances fighting out two guys and then fleeing from the third than now trying to fight 5-6 guys. "Moving into closer range against a shotgun only increase their odds of hitting" - Running away doesn't decrease the chances either. Buckshot will easily land on a man-sized target from 70 yards away. "By maintaining a distance and putting objects between you greatly reduces the odds of being hit" - There was no cover in the immediate vicinity. "I can't say i feel remotely sorry for this career criminal." - I don't feel sorry either. I'm kind of glad this happened, because this means the wannabe cops will lay low for a while. Now if someone stops you with a gun and tells you to wait for the police, you know damned well they're lying to you. Now nobody reasonable is going to attempt that crap.
1
@Bourikii2992 Talk about missing the point. You used the term "sneak" which is not applicable here.
1
@Lastjustice "I don't know where hell you live that people rolling up with guns is common" - That's precisely the point. I don't want it to be common. So the people who'd do it have to know that if they want to play wannabe cop they either end up smoked or in prison. "instead fo cuttign through yards" - You can see even from the limited FOV of the recording camera that there was no suitable cover. "Most people have shitty aim" - Most people also have a shitty stress response when you get up in their face. "I don't go around pissing off professional hitmen. If you are...you're probably doing it wrong." - Exact same argument as anti-gunners. If you need a gun for self-defense, you pissed off someone you shouldn't have.
1
@Bourikii2992 Yeah, you did. You lied about the footage and I corrected it. That's not a dumb point. It's being accurate. You're welcome.
1
@Bourikii2992 Do you know what sneaking is?
1
@lilartay Yes, you are allowed to disarm people.
