Patton's Lorraine's campaign cost 55,000 3rd Army casualties. Patton couldn't even move the ten miles to Metz for nearly three months September, October and November 1944. Bradley tasked Patton with taking Metz on September 5th. Patton didn't take it until near the end of November, despite receiving four fresh new well equipped divisions in September.
