  1. German eyewitness accounts of the Normandy Beach bombardments are very graphic, the next strong point to them "disappearing" was a hit on morale. Accounts of dazed and confused troops are many, it was not just the big guns that were the target. The guns were also used to attack behind the beach on artillery and tanks.
