The Graf Zeppelin had both propellers and Voith Propulsion. There are some large offshore vessels equipped with Voith, Edda seem to like them.

3 million dead Russian POW might disagree, 22 million dead civilians might also disagree, the Wehrmacht murdered some where between 8 and 9 million civilians.

Not sure your distances in the UK are correct. Any one injured in Scapa Flow would go to Thurso , about 25 miles and either get treated there or Wick, if not a train to Inverness, Aberdeen, Perth Edinburgh or Glasgow. The sea distance to Leith is a little over 200 miles.

@Pusserdoc Where/why would there be 100000 casualties in Scapa Flow? I seem to think in WW! after action the ships went to the Firth of Forth to repatriate casualties. I would think the navy has relativity little causality numbers compared to an Army . After battle many are drowned and any serous will have to be stabilised onboard or die.

@Pusserdoc i suggest you visit Scapa Flow. There was a large shore establishment with Mess halls, Cinemas , Hospitals Offices Church Workshops etc. A large number of large houses were taken over on the Scottish mainland from Inverness to Berwick and used for the treatment of the wounded from France, particularly the long term, amputee's , gassed and shell shocked. The main method of transport to Scapa Flow was by rail to Thurso and then a ferry ride over. Stops torpedo attacks.

@Pusserdoc Its a lovely place, some of the earliest stone age structures in the world predating the Pyramids and Stonehenge, I have a fair bit of information on ships in WW2 but less in WW1. The British as a result of Covid have opened some archives and allow free downloads
